Ancient Egypt III (The Middle Kingdom) (c 2050-1786 BCE)
Summary
A period beginning with the reign of Mentuhope II. His successors Mentuhope III and Mentuhope IV continued to rule from Thebes, until Amenemhat founded the Twelfth Dynasty (1991-1786BC) and moved the capital to Memphis. Al Fayoum became the capital of the Middle Kingdom during the reign of Senusert I. The last pyramids were built under his successors Amenemhat II and Senusert III.
