Hendrick Avercamp (1585-1634)
Summary
Dutch painter and exponent of the winter landscape. He was also deaf and dumb - known as the mute of Kampen (de Stomme van Kampen). Avercamp's works were very popular. Windsor castle has an important collection. His nephew and pupil Barent Avercamp (1612-79) carried on his style.
