Biographical
Jacques Louis David was a central figure of the French Neoclassicism art movement.
David's major works include Oath of Horatii (Louvre, 1784), Death of Marat (Brussels, 1793) and Coronation of Napoleon (Louvre, 1805).

Great book. David is a painter that anybody must consider as the father of the neoclassical painting era. Just see his little pupil: Dominique Ingres.
