Biographical
Philip Glass, (1937-) American minimalist composer. Notable works: Einstein at the beach; Satyagraha; Akhnaten; Koyaanisqatsi (score); Music with Changing Parts; Music in Twelve Parts; Hydrogen Jukebox (libretto by Allen Ginsberg). He has orchestrated some of David Bowie's intstrumentals from the David Bowie albums Low and Heroes. Glass is very prolific, and has scored many films, including Martin Scorsese's film Kundun and Errol Morris' biopic A Brief History of Time (based on Stephen Hawking's popular physics book).
